![]() No more disconnected or constantly disconnecting iPod, or the dreaded "Please Wait" and no song info showing up etc. I finally bought a genuine USB-C to Lightning cable from Apple directly for < $20 and the iPod has been *flawless* the two weeks since.Įverything just works: all search functions, voice navigation to any song, artist, album and all ~12K songs show up not just ~5k like before. The USB-C to Lightning cables do have active electronics and their quality and design matters: Īll my past cables in the G05 were generic amazon bought USB C to Lightning. It turns out that iDrive is ultra finicky about the cables used. I was, unreasonably, it turns out, blaming the G05 and iDrive 7 for a lot of the issues you just mentioned. ![]() The same iPod touch worked flawlessly on my 2011 X3 F25. I've had lots of problems with my iPod Touch 6th Gen on my 2019 X5 G05 and posted my experiences on other threads in these forums. Good luck, hopefully you’ll push the button after full disclosure. Overall the cars positives far out weigh the issue and I think you’ll enjoy the ownership, if even without the iPod. However I’ve learned to appreciate Apple car play for what it is and the integration for that is very good. Granted, I have 1 of the first G06’s but it was disappointing to say the least. It’s more so for the Bluetooth Apple CarPlay and it may never link the way I expect. ![]() I’ve taken the car to bmw, where the guy who created the genius program is and his answer was the focus in the system just isn’t favorable to the iPod connection. Sometimes the song playing will show with no graphics or without the ability to see other tracks in the album or playlist and no way to select other songs. Then that still doesn’t facilitate a fully working system. The issue i’m have is sometimes the idrive won’t recognize the iPod at all or disconnect during playing and I’ll have to either reset the idrive or unplug, then re plug in the iPod. Let me explain.I made sure I purchased the latest iPod to operate with my car because I’ve always preferred the sounds quality of the direct connection over Bluetooth streaming. To be honest, it isn’t a seamless operation. I have a similar setup with my iPod for my G06. ![]() now if i can just decide between mineral white and carbon black! lol You'll be able to use wireless Apple CarPlay with all of your songs that you've kept on your iPod. I did this a few years ago and it's been amazing. I used iTunes Match which lets you upload any of your songs to your library, even if you didn't purchase them on iTunes. Gonna be really bummed if i have to make a big sacrifice in this area. i'm not a techie at all and really want to keep this setup but i'm not optimistic. I'm getting the feeling this is not going to work in the x5 even with some type of Aux to USB converter cable. I currently have an old ipod classic that remains in the car at all times. i apologize up front for not going the search route, as i did see this topic discussed a few times here. unfortunately i don't feel like i have enough time to do that, so I'm looking for some quick help if possible. i typically do a LOT of research so this is not how i usually do things.Īs a long time member on a porsche forum i'm well aware of the value of the search feature. it's possible i'll be buying an X5 literally after only a few days of thinking about it. As i mentioned in my other post, I just joined here a few days ago after deciding against Audi Q7 or 8.
